Late Spring frosts after trees start to leaf out and hot Summer days can take a toll on Northern Nevada trees. This is not the time to top your trees. In fact, there is never a time to top a tree!
MD Tree Surgery's ISA Certified Arborists and highly trained team, expertly prune and shape your trees to enhance their health and aesthetics. Dead branches are pruned. Hazardous limbs are removed. Reduction pruning is performed. Allowing your trees to flourish and fill out naturally.
Did you know new branches do not grow from the center of a cut branch or stump? New tree growth starts at the bark. A tree pruned to grow naturally may have 1 to 3 branches growing from a spot on a larger trunk or branch. A topped tree could have 20 or more new branches growing around the cut area, which weakens the tree's structure.
Here are other harmful effects from tree topping:
Removing the crown removes the tree's ability to produce food.
New growth is structurally weaker.
The tree cannot easily heal (think about your arm or leg being cut off rather than the hair being removed) promoting decay, pests and disease.
New growth becomes hazardous as the branches grow because of instability.
Did you know as a home or business owner you can be help liable for falling branches from a formerly topped tree?
As certified arborists, we ensure your tree care exceeds ISA certification standards. Healthy trees make for a beautiful Nevada and help with property values. Give us a call for your free estimate.
